Lightning Strikes Three Times
Lightning strikes are generally few and far between in
California. Typically the state gets only one lighting
storm every two or three years, but northern California
had an unprecedented three waves of lighting storms during
August. During one, a whopping 422,067 lightning strikes
were recorded in a 24-hour period.
The storms knocked out approximately 2,000 of Pacific
Gas & Electrics overhead distribution transformers,
and thats when Power Partners came to the rescue.
Within five days, the Power Partners team had sent half
of the desperately needed transformers to PG&E, one
of the largest combination electric and natural gas utilities
in the United States. The rest followed several days later.
The whole Power Partners team was the cavalry in this
rescue. Special kudos to Connie Busby, the marketing associate
who processed the PG&E orders, and the Power Partners
employees who handle Production Planning, Manufacturing
and Shipping.
